Whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian my aim is to personally prepare tasty and attractive vegetarian food for any occasion e.g general daily meals to something a little more special.
In this page I’d like to tell you a bit about myself, my background and my reasons for going back into private catering and my desire to offer quality vegetarian food at affordable prices.
First and foremost, food must be ‘yummy’. I am passionate about food. I just love everything that encompasses the social aspects of being with family and friends, formally or informally and seeing people enjoy good food (and wine). I take pride in the overall preparation process and enjoy experimenting with new ingredients and the creative latitude cooking allows.
My Osteopath husband and I relocated to Spain from Scotland in May 2004 to semi-retire with Sophie our 9 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
I am sure you will agree Spanish eating houses tend not to cater for vegetarians and consider it quite odd that someone does not eat meat, fish, cheese or even eggs.
Thus vegetarian choices can be very limited and not particularly interesting - and if you’re vegan, well I rest my case.
The choice of supermarket chilled and frozen vegetarian foods is also limited and tends to be expensive. And whilst convenient as stand-byes, I think most of us are aware, from a nutritional standpoint these products do not rate as the ‘healthiest’ options.
Since being in Spain, I have catered many times for our ‘new’ friends and their families. And whilst all are meat eaters, they have to ‘humour’ me when coming to dine, given I don’t do meat! And yes, there is always the expected apprehension, but as usual (in my experience anyway), the food has won them over, to the point I found myself giving out recipes left right and centre to receiving orders for freezers, dinner parties and weight loss programmes. Plus a few restaurants have approached me. So based on interest and apparent demand, I decided to don my apron again and start enjoying myself by getting back in the kitchen offering my catering and nutritional advice services once more.
BUEN PROVECHO (enjoy your meal).
